Educational Entertainment Initiative
What is Educational Entertainment?
Educational Entertainment embodies Tiara's commitment to making learning engaging, accessible, and impactful through creative and interactive content. This initiative focuses on producing dynamic educational experiences such as video series, hands-on workshops, and interactive learning tools that spark curiosity and inspire growth. By blending entertainment with meaningful learning opportunities, the goal is to nurture critical thinking, creativity, and a lifelong love for knowledge while empowering students to reach their full potential.
Initiative Objectives
Exposure to Engaging Educational Content: Creating compelling educational materials is at the heart of the Educational Entertainment initiative. Tiara, alongside her sister Eiress, a board-certified music therapist, will launch a YouTube educational entertainment series in January 2025. The series will blend imaginative storytelling with academic lessons, using a hands-on approach to make learning fun and impactful.
The content will include video episodes supported by worksheets, quizzes, and interactive activities tailored for elementary students. By aligning with nationwide curriculum standards and incorporating STEM and arts-based topics, the series aims to equip students with essential skills while fostering creativity and exploration.
Exposure to Industry Collaboration: Building partnerships with creators, educators, and industry professionals is key to broadening the reach of Educational Entertainment. By collaborating on workshops, live events, and digital campaigns, the initiative will amplify educational content that resonates with diverse audiences.
Exposure to Educational Advocacy: Raising awareness about the importance of creative learning is central to the initiative. Educational Entertainment will promote policies that support arts-integrated education and equitable access to learning resources. Through advocacy and storytelling, the initiative seeks to inspire lasting educational reform while ensuring every student has a chance to thrive.
Active Resources for Increased Access in Education
At the heart of transforming education lies the accessibility of resources. Through active advocacy and community engagement, several initiatives are designed to address educational inequities, promote inclusivity, and create pathways to success for underserved students. These efforts, such as the Black Student Achievement Plan (BSAP) and California K-16 Regional Collaboratives, provide crucial support to students and families, ensuring that every learner has the opportunity to reach their full potential.

The Black Student Achievement Plan (BSAP) in Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) is designed to address educational inequities faced by Black students.

Key components include:
Reallocation of Funding: The LAUSD Board redirected $25 million from the school police budget to support initiatives aimed at Black student achievement. This funding focuses on creating a safer, more supportive learning environment through community-driven strategies.
Supportive Resources and Curriculum Enhancements: BSAP initiatives include academic counseling, culturally relevant instruction, mental health services, and increased parental engagement. There's also a focus on financial literacy, leadership training, and professional development for staff to better support Black students.
Community and Student Advocacy: LAUSD engages students, parents, and community organizations in developing and implementing BSAP policies, ensuring that support extends beyond academic outcomes to include socio-emotional growth and leadership development.

The California K-16 Regional Collaboratives initiative focuses on building integrated education-to-career pipelines across 13 designated regions in the state. It fosters collaboration among K-12 schools, community colleges, universities, and workforce partners to create clear pathways from education to meaningful careers. This program was established as part of California’s broader effort to address systemic educational inequities and improve economic mobility through career-focused education.
Key Objectives
Career Pathway Development:
Each collaborative is required to develop at least two career pathways in high-demand sectors such as health care, education, business management, and engineering/computing. These pathways aim to support historically underserved students by providing industry-relevant skills and certifications.Cross-Sector Partnerships:
The program unites K-12 districts, community colleges, California State Universities (CSUs), University of California (UC) campuses, and industry leaders. These partnerships ensure that academic programs align with labor market needs while providing mentorship, internships, and real-world learning opportunities.Equity and Inclusion Commitments:
Collaboratives must implement at least four of seven equity-focused recommendations, including:Increasing diversity among faculty and staff
Cultivating inclusive learning environments
Offering comprehensive student support services
Expanding access to technology and advising
Local Community Impact:
Regional projects tailor their approaches to the specific economic and social needs of their communities. For instance:North State Together focuses on healthcare and education training programs.
Kern K16 Collaborative develops engineering and computing pathways while reducing barriers to educational success.
Orange County’s OC Pathways promotes dual-enrollment and career-technical education for high school students pursuing business and health careers
Advocacy Experience
As a Digital Content Creation Intern at The Knowledge Shop Los Angeles (TKSLA), I had the opportunity to contribute to an impactful organization dedicated to empowering youth, educators, and families in South Los Angeles.
During my time at TKSLA from October 2022 to April 2023, I worked on several key projects that addressed systemic educational challenges.
I established and maintained a social media content series designed to guide parents in accessing educational resources tailored for Black and Brown students, helping bridge the gap between available resources and the families who need them most.
I conducted and presented a fiscal analysis of the Black Student Achievement Plan, offering economic recommendations to the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) aimed at improving Black student performance. This experience deepened my understanding of how data-driven advocacy can influence policy and educational outcomes.
I contributed to the creation of culturally relevant coding content, empowering minority students to explore the tech world through accessible, inclusive lessons.
My work at TKSLA not only strengthened my skills in digital content creation and advocacy but also reinforced my commitment to transforming educational experiences for underserved communities.
